FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

~~~~~~~~~~~
IS EVERYONE WELCOME?
Absolutely!
The MindFreedom First Wednesday Roundtable is where ALL free-minded people in Lane County are invited for a lively but moderated exchange of ideas and mutual support for a nonviolent revolution of the mind, especially but not limited to mental health.
ALL are welcome, especially mental health consumers, psychiatric survivors and allies. As long as discussion is civil, differing opinions are welcome.
Since 2002, this will be the 87th successful free monthly First Wednesday Round Table sponsored by MindFreedom Lane County, an affiliate of MFI, an independent nonprofit coalition based in Eugene, Oregon, USA.
Since 1986, MindFreedom International, based here in Eugene, unites members, sponsors and affiliates around the world.
This event is at the renowned Round Table in the public common room directly outside the MindFreedom office on the second floor of the historic Growers Market building by the MFI office.
~~~~~~~~~~~

ARE FIRST WEDNESDAY ROUNDTABLES WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

Yes!

If you want to use the wheelchair lift, enter through the back dock ramp on the north side of the building facing Amtrak parking.

Please phone the office ahead of time 541-345-9106 to let us know, because the dock door is always locked.

If you can't call ahead, then once you are downstairs call up with your cell. If no response -- or you have no cell -- ring door buzzer by front door facing Willamette St., and we'll come down and help.

~~~~~~~~~~~
WHERE DO I PARK?
* Growers Market has five (5) reserved parking spots in the Amtrak parking lot north of the building, against the west fence. Watch for the signs.
* If those are full, we've never heard of a street parking meter ticket after 5 pm. All meters are officially free at 6 pm.
* There are free parking spaces on any side street starting one block, west of Charnelton St. and north of Fifth St.
* There is biking, walking and public transport. Sometimes carpooling home or to LTD is arranged among people at the event.
~~~~~~~~~~~

DO I NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF MINDFREEDOM?

No. All are welcome, non-members or members. This is a public, open event.

But joining sure supports MindFreedom International!

It's crucial for everyone to support local independent nonprofit activist groups like MindFreedom International -- do what you can, and join, renew or donate now, here:

Levi Chambers: Young adult leader

Levi Chambers is a sociology student, organizer, and psychiatric survivor working toward mental health justice in Olympia, Washington. He said: "I am a member of MFI because the organization fights for my rights more effectively than groups with funding from big pharma. My family and I stopped supporting those groups, and have been MFI fans ever since." Levi believes in community mental support, non-pathological and non-chemical treatment alternatives, and declines to use psychiatric labels. Currently a 22-year-old college student involved in the Icarus Project and a member of MindFreedom International, Levi hopes to become a researcher who works to gain scientific acknowledgment for alternative recovery models. If you would like to work with Levi to fight discrimination, build alternatives to conventional psychiatry, and demand a non-violent revolution in mental health in Washington State, please contact him.
