Founding Board Members of the Oregon Consumer/Survivor Coalition will
facilitate a hands-on webinar discussing:
* Types of coalitions and initial steps in coalition building
* Finding common ground among diverse groups run by mental health
consumers and psychiatric survivors
* Reaching out to allies such as the cross-disability community
and supportive family members
* Lessons learned from the Oregon Consumer/Survivor Coalition's
experience starting a coalition from scratch with few resources
* "Floating all boats" when groups may be competing for the same
resources
* Obstacles to sustaining a coalition and how to address them
* Action steps to take in building and/or sustaining a coalition
in your own region

Nancy is a mental health consumer/survivor/family member/human being.
She has done mental health advocacy coalition building since 1985.
David Oaks
Board Member, Oregon Consumer/Survivor Coalition
Executive Director, MindFreedom International
David identifies as a psychiatric survivor community organizer who has
been doing coalition building work since 1976.
This will webinar will be presented live via teleconference and web
interface. The 90-minute module will provide ample time for questions
and discussion.
