Mary Maddock is a former nun, an electroshock survivor, founder of MindFreedom Ireland based in Cork, Ireland, and author of the book Soul Survivor. One of the main newspapers in Ireland ran a major feature about Mary. Mary is on the board of directors of MindFreedom International.

Irish Government 2007 Report on Pharmaceuticals

You may download a pdf of a 63-page report by the Irish government on "The Adverse Side Effects of Pharmaceuticals," including psychiatric drugs. Several MindFreedom Ireland leaders, including Mary Maddock and John McCarthy, provided oral testimony to the commission.

Mary Maddock Petitions Ireland About Forced Psychiatric Drugs

In Cork, Ireland, Mary Maddock, one of the founders of MindFreedom Ireland, submitted an official petition to the government of Ireland, and a copy of the text is here. Mary challenges the legality of Irish policy on forced psychiatric drugging. Mary presented the petition to the European Union Petitions Committee durings its tour of Ireland.

Memoriam for Helena King of Cork Ireland

A memoriam from Mary Maddock of MindFreedom Ireland about Helena King: A spirited woman has finally found freedom. For the past six years of her life, Helena King spent most of her time locked away in Carrig Mor secure psychiatric hospital in Cork. She was a spirited, intelligent and loving woman -- above all full of integrity -- until psychotropic drugs and electroshock dimmed and ultimately extinguished her spirit.

Jim Gottstein of PsychRights

Jim Gottstein is a psychiatric survivor who is also a Harvard-trained attorney, and founder of MindFreedom Sponsor Group PsychRights. Jim blew the whistle on Eli Lilly by releasing their secret documents about the psychiatric drug Zyprexa to The New York Times. Jim is also president of National Association of Rights Protection and Advocacy (NARPA) a founding Sponsor Group of MFI.
