One of many memorials in three nations, Lane County plans to hold a Psychiatric Rights Memorial this Friday.

Remember Esmin Green

Esmin Green was an immigrant from Jamaica who died in a New York psychiatric emergency room.

As she waited 24 hours for help, her death from neglect was captured on security cameras, which have since been broadcast around the world.

Peaceful memorials led by psychiatric survivors are being held throughout the USA, Canada, and Ireland this Friday, 25 July 2008.

In Eugene, Oregon, MindFreedom Lane County will sponsor a time for reflection and discussion at 1 pm.

Because Ms. Green was an immigrant, and her death was partly because of this discrimination against her, we in Eugene will gather at the Japanese Internment Memorial. This is in the quiet green area between the Hult Center and the Hilton, at 6th and Willamette.
