Brief biographies


Grace Jackson, MD -- A psychiatrist who promotes humane voluntary alternatives to the traditional psychiatric system internationally.

Dr. Grace Jackson is a board certified psychiatrist who graduated summa cum laude. Her first book Rethinking Psychiatric Drugs: A Guide for Informed Consent underscores the rights of consumers and clinicians to have access to care without psychiatric drugs. In 2001, Dr. Jackson resigned her naval commission because the existing model of care was unnecessarily harmful to her patients. She received an honorable discharge.

Peter Breggin, MD -- A psychiatrist and author who has been one of the main leaders of the movement to reform the mental health system for over three decades.

Dr. Peter R. Breggin informs the public about the potential dangers of drugs, electroshock, psychosurgery, involuntary treatment, and the biological theories of psychiatry. He founded The International Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychology (ICSPP). He authored of 19 books, including The Ritalin Fact Book, The Antidepressant Fact Book, Talking Back to Ritalin, Toxic Psychiatry, and Talking Back to Prozac. Dr. Breggin's work is frequently covered in the national media.

Peter Stastny, MD -- A psychiatrist who promotes humane voluntary alternatives to the traditional psychiatric system internationally.

Dr. Peter Stastny was born in Vienna, Austria, where he graduated from medical school in 1976. He is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Peter helped start the International Network for Treatment Alternatives for Recovery (INTAR).
