Give the Gift of Peace of Mind and Human Rights!

— filed under:

“I want my husband to be home for the holidays…” For many, this season will be remembered as a time of hopelessness and fear. Now is the ideal time to make a statement against forced and coerced psychiatry by supporting MindFreedom International efforts to support psychiatric survivors and their loved ones through a donation or gift membership.

Give the Gift of Peace of Mind and Human Rights!

Supporters can make a gift in honor or memory of someone special to MFI.

“I want my husband to be home for the holidays…”

This member shared this hope with MFI staff while issuing an Shield Alert on behalf of her husband, who had been committed against his will for nearly two years.

They have been married 18 years, but this year, they will not be spending the holidays together.

As a MindFreedom member, your support allows MFI to advocate for freedom and choice in the mental health system in these situations.

And if we don’t, who will?

For many, this season will be remembered as a hopeless time of involuntary detention in psychiatric facilities or ‘drug-induced incarceration,’ where they may be present in person but are mentally imprisoned in another world.

We need your to show support now to ensure that we can continue our programs, such as the Shield, that promote liberty and human rights.

Your tax-deductible donation will directly support our efforts, such as the Relatives and Allies of Psychiatric Survivors (RAPS) initiative, that empower loved ones of survivors to speak out for deep change.

Now is the ideal time to make a statement against forced and coerced psychiatry by supporting MindFreedom International.

We think the members helped would agree: If a loved one in the mental health system is abused, we are all abused.

Laura Delano - Psychiatric survivor blogger activist

Laura works as a peer specialist in the traditional mental health system and writes a blog at madinamerica.com, where she is sharing her story of recovery from psychiatry. After living with psychiatric labels for 13 years and taking psychotropic medications for ten of them, Laura says she found liberation in 2010 from her psychiatric diagnoses, from her reliance upon the mental health system, and from the once deep-seated belief that she was sentenced to a life-long "mental illness." Laura says, "I am proud to be a member of the MindFreedom International community for all MFI does to promote equality, justice, and civil rights for people who have been labeled 'mentally ill.'"
