Social Injustice

I drew this while I was a Patient at (WMHI) Winnebago Mental Health Institute. A State Hospital in Oshkosh Wisconsin. On August 16th 2000, my two Daughters then 8 &12 were removed from my home and placed in Foster care. My oldest at this point had run away 5 times. When I drew this she was on the run. To this day the state of Wisconsin still has custody of my Youngest Daughter now 15 and 1/2. I still have legal guardianship. I do not have any visitation.

The artwork of yours; titled Social Injustice could also read ' Justice in Social ( in Society ). You have an interest in Metaphysical Art. Have you looked closely at Buddhist art - thangkas - mandalas. I have seen monks doing sand paintings of mandalas. They are a meditative experience.

The artwork of yours; titled Social Injustice could also read ' Justice in Social ( in Society ). You did this in 2000. How has your artwork changed since then??!! ... You have an interest in Metaphysical Art. Have you looked closely at Buddhist art - thangkas - mandalas. I have seen monks doing sand paintings of mandalas. They are a meditative experience. I spoke to one of the younger monks and he said that doing the paintings brought him to his inward center of peace; almost instantly, when he began.

Dorothy Dundas

While institutionalized for three years as an adolescent in the 1960's, MindFreedom member Dorothy Washburn Dundas was labeled a "schizophrenic" and forced to undergo 40 combined insulin coma-electroshock "treatments." Dorothy says, "I experienced and witnessed many atrocities. I believe that luck, determination, and my own anger and one compassionate advocate were my best friends on the road to my ultimate survival and freedom." Through a number of op-ed pieces, she has voiced her opposition to abusive psychiatric practices. Her poster, "Behind Locked Doors," which she created from her hospital records, is used in training programs. Dorothy lives in the Boston area where she has raised her four wonderful children. She founded and is the sole driver in her "safe, friendly and reliable" car service called The Crystal Lake Express.
