Here are three easy actions you can take from home to speak out for the release of journalist/activist Larisa Arap from a Russian psychiatric institution.

Three Easy Actions You Can Take to Speak Out for Freedom of Larisa Arap

1) Please contact the Russian embassy in Washington, D.C. and ask for the release of Larisa Arap!

Telephone: (202) 939-8907, 939-8913, 939-8918, 939-8911 (Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.)

2) Please email to the USA consulate in St. Petersburg

While of course the USA is not responsible for the confinement of Ms. Arap, they can bring up these issues as a priority with the Russian government. They are familiar with the situation.

Ask them to do what they can to release Larisa Arap.

Mary Kruger, American consul in St. Petersburg, who was going to visit Ms. Arap when she was in Murmansk. E-mail: KrugerMA@state.gov

Ask Ms. Kruger to visit Ms. Arap, so that we can get a clear picture of her condition, and to pressure the local authorities in any way possible to secure her release.

Please also email DellCE2@state.gov (Courtney Dell) and BemisHJ@state.gov (Howard Bemis) and ask them to investigate this human rights violation.

3) Please write to the Russian President:
