PDF of Declaration of Dresden Against Coerced Psychiatric Treatment

Several psychiatric survivor organizations, including MindFreedom International, helped develop and issue this call to end force and coercion in the mental health system. The timing of the statement is to coincide with a special conference by the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) on the subject of coercion in psychiatry which is being held in Dresden in June 2007. Several representatives from these organizations will be inside the WPA conference speaking out, and distributing the statement.

LaTonya Gibbs: MindFreedom Office Rock Star and Mental Health Consumer

LaTonya says, "I love working for such an 'insanely supportive' organization. MindFreedom is a touchstone for a lot of different commissions that are fighting for human rights, both locally and internationally. This is also an office that practices what it preaches. The director and staff are intent on not letting its members or it's employees lose themselves while trying to 'make a living', if we can help it. We're all human beings and that comes first here." LaTonya works in the MindFreedom office and is a mental health consumer.
