MindFreedom Ireland organized a gathering to launch a new book by dissident mental health professional, Dr. Terry Lunch, about ‘Selfhood.’ Irish Minister of State Kathleen Lynch TD performed the launch, praising Dr. Lynch’s work for psychiatric survivors.

Over 100 people turned up at The Basement Resource Centre in Washington St. Cork, Ireland on Friday night January 27th for the launch of Dr. Terry Lynch’s new book ‘Selfhood’, a user-friendly book born out of his long experience as a psychotherapist in Limerick.

The launch was performed by Kathleen Lynch TD, Minister of State with responsibility for Mental Health who praised the work of Dr. Lynch and spoke of her determination that the voices of people with experience of the psychiatric system be heard and respected.

The launch was organised by MindFreedom Ireland in co-operation with Shine.  MindFreedom Ireland are a Cork based group of psychiatric survivors and supporters who campaign for a more humane approach to the problems of emotional distress and are opposed to the over-prescription of drugs and the use of forced treatments.
