Katherine Tapley writes MFI about her new book.

MindFreedom member Katherine Tapley of Canada writes to us about her new book. The title is “Mind Full of Scorpions” and it's about being diagnosed with psychiatric disability. Katherine describes it as, "A harrowing account. It chronicles a fifty year struggle with the diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder and the abuses that the mental health care system inflicts on people diagnosed as mentally ill." Katherine says her intent is so that a reader with a "mental illness" label will say, “ I don’t feel alone anymore”.  Says Katherine, "The purpose of this book is to effect social change, so that the oppression of the mental health care system will stop." The book can be ordered at www.amazon.com.

Geetha Rathnamala, psychiatric survivor

Geetha says, "I am an Indian-American psychiatric survivor from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am proud to be a MFI member because I believe in the power of individuals working together to bring about a better world in which uniqueness, fundamental human rights, and different states of consciousness are treasured." MindFreedom launched a MindFreedom Shield campaign against the involuntary psychiatric drugging and lock-up that Geetha experienced in 2010.
